CPBS Notice (Kayaking)

All Std 2s and 3s interested in 1 STAR personal skill kayaking course on 10th and 11th November, get the green form for the course itself and blue form for PAssion card membership(optional) and complete them. The dates are tentative and depends on whether the vendors can get trainers.

Cost is $50 for non members, Water Venture members get $35. Membership fee is 3 years in validity, $38. We will try to subsidise up to $30 for the non-member fee of $50.

The forms are found in Mr Lim Pia Leong’s locker in the locker room outside staff room. Get it filled up and signed, hand in on routine training day, 30102009, to C/L Ng Han Yi Jason. Do not fill in the course date as yet.

National Photo Collage Competition

The National Photo Collage Competition has commenced on 1 June 2009. This is a competition conducted by NHQ, and is associated with the Information Technology Badge. Please approach C/L JASON NG, the liaising officer of our Corps, for more details if you are interested in participating in this competition.


St John Ambulance Brigade
Cadet Proficiency Badge Scheme
National Photo Collage Competition 2009

Introduction
The St John Ambulance Brigade, Cadet Proficiency Badge Scheme is integrating with the award of Information Technology badge, by organising the National Photo Collage Competition 2009.

Purpose
Using the digital media (photograph collage for this case), we hope to raise awareness of the SJAB’s activities.
From the posters designed by our very own SJAB cadets, they will be used to recruit new members in schools.

Team Make-up and Eligibility
Students who are interested can either participate individually or form a team of not more than three students and register for the competition through the teacher-in-charge.

Each school is only allowed a maximum of THREE entries (regardless of individual or team).

Award of Cadet Proficiency Badge
Members who participate in this competition will be entitled to the Group 4 badge, ‘Information Technology’ (ITB/412) under the Cadet Proficiency Badge Scheme (CPBS).

Submission Details:
The artwork must fulfill the following criteria:
-          Soft copy at 300 dpi
-          Dimension is set at 1024 X 768 (pixel)
-          Posters could be digitized in JPEG images

Each submitted entry must be accompanied with the following:
-          Entry Form
-          Checklist of submission
-          Artwork in Digital Format (saved in CDROM)
-          Printed Entry in A3 size

Schedules and Deadlines
The competition begins on 1 June 2009. 
All entries must reach St John HQ latest by 15 August 2009 (Saturday) at 12.00pm.  Late entries will not be accepted.

Judging Criteria
Judging will be done by a panel of professional judges appointed by SJAB and entries will be judged according to the criteria below.
•           Originality
•           Creativity
•           Quality
•           Communicative function

Each entry will be judged on its own merit without any differentiation between individual or team entries. Similarly, prizes will be awarded on the basis of the respective entry without any differentiation. Judges’ decision is final.

Prizes
Based on the Competition Judging Criteria, Judges will select three winning projects. 

Champion                         $500 vouchers
1st Runner-Up                $300 vouchers
2nd Runner-Up              $200 vouchers
Seven Merit Awards     $50 vouchers each

 

Copyright Issues
Copyright of all images belong to the respective photographers. By participating in this competition, members will allow SJAB the rights to reproduce the winning images for publication and recruitment purposes.

As an entrant in this competition, it is your responsibility to adhere to the copyright laws, and not to violate them. Copying images from websites, reproducing photographs from similar competitions are also considered infringing copyright rules.

Any members found to have infringed copyright laws will be disqualified from the competition.

The Teacher-in-Charge should ensure that the team members abide by the competition rules and regulations and agree with the decisions made by the organisers.
